Herring Fishery
Early March is the time to watch the herring spawn and the herring skiffs fishing in the waters surrounding Hornby.

Explore the tide pools on the beach in front of the cottage to see what interesting treasures the tide and surf have exposed.
Big Tibune Bay
Any day in spring is the right day to walk the sands of Whaling Station Bay. You can have the entire beach all to yourself.
Kayaking
Canoeing
Pick a warm sunny day to explore the waters surrounding the island. Expect to see eagles, gulls seals, sea lions and possibly even whales as they migrate north. Spring is also the time to see the very rare Harlequin ducks as they stop over for a few weeks on their way to nesting grounds in the interior.
Walking in Helliwell

March, April and May are the perfect times to hike through Helliwell Park. You will be amazed to see the bluffs in their splendid spring finery - acres of native wild flowers. Watch closely for the rare Chocolate Lily and the pink Shooting Star. Please do be careful where you walk and stay within the marked trail boundaries.

Sandstone
At low tide, hike the beach behind the Ford Cove store and explore the fantastic sandstone rock formations.

Wildflowers
In April, May and early June, be sure to spend hours admiring the spectacular wild flowers by the beach at Grassy Point.

The fully furnished cottage includes dishwasher, microwave and full laundry facilities plus a cozy woodstove and electric baseboard heaters. This cottage has an abundant water supply.
