of artists and crafts people. There are several galleries on Hornby
Island which present a wide spectrum of our diverse local talent.
In the summer time many of our local studios are open to the public
as is a pottery shop at ringside by our co-op. |
Elaine Savoie
An artist and farmer on her native Hornby Island,
Elaine has been painting since 1978. Her work emerges out of a
colourful family history of early settlers, farmers, church and
boat builders. She combines influences from this gulf island community
which has shaped her with her own particular humour and joie de
vivre. |

Roberta
'Pyx' Sutherland
Internationally acclaimed artist, Roberta 'Pyx' Sutherland's
multiple talents shine through all her work whether it be drawing
painting or mixed media collage.

| Cedar's vast experience in many areas of fiber art including
basketry, paper making, leather work, carving and the spinning
and dying of wool, all come together in these stunning gourd
creations. |

Linda Jane Schmid
An active member of the Hornby Island arts community, Linda Jane has gained local renown for her vivid acrylic paintings of big skies and dramatic cloudscapes. Other ongoing series include “Portals and Thresholds”, paintings based on the vernacular architecture of Crete and of other islands in the Aegean Sea. Linda Jane also constructs wall sculptures from found materials, creating a startling impression of weather-worn ancient artifacts, painted with a very contemporary sense of colour.

Louise Jarvis
Louise celebrated the Millenium bymoving to Hornby Island from Ontario, just in time for New Year's Eve in the Community Hall. Her jewellery is inspired by nature, accompanied by a love for form, balance and movement. |

Robin de Lavis
Robin has been practising art for over thirty years. Her explorations into sculpture, painting, filmaking and design have culminated in the creation of beautiful digital mandalas, an integration of all of her disciplines. These, along with her abstracted landscape paintings gives her a unique voice in the language of art.
